Hello Happytalk2,
Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forum!
This might be due to corrupt drivers, let’s try to update the latest touchpad drivers and then try to change the touchpad settings and check if it helps. Please follow the steps below:
You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.
1.Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then, under System, clicking Device Manager. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
2.In the list of hardware categories, find the device that you want to update, and then double-click the device name.
Mouse Scroll Speed Too Fast
3.Click the Driver tab, click Update Driver, and then follow the instructions. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
For more information, please refer the link mentioned below:
I hope this information helps. Please get back to us if you have any more questions about this issue.
Thanks and Regards

When I first made the transition from my Macbook Pro to the Lenovo laptop I have now, I had a bunch of things to adapt to. One of the things I really never got over was the relatively choppy trackpad (or touchpad) scrolling. (Neither Windows or Lenovo’s best highlight.)
There’s a great degree of control and precision with the Macbook trackpad. This isn’t the case with Lenovo and Windows. To be fair, scrolling does accelerate and it is precise to do most tasks. However, when I’m reading a piece or typing up a document, I have to use the up and down arrow keys because I don’t trust the trackpad to do land in the right spot.
I found two solutions: the first is to decrease the number of lines that Windows scrolls down vertically.
Windows Scroll Decrease
This doesn’t make things that much smoother, but does allow you to retain more control over how fast the the trackpad scroll moves in Windows Explorer.
- Click Start, click Control Panel, and click Mouse under the Hardware and Sound category.
- Click on the Wheel tab, and you can adjust the “number of lines” per wheel notch.
- You will want to decrease the number of lines for a “smoother” effect.
- Depending on your hardware there may be addition menu items or options.
- See if there are any options that would control your scrolling aside from the ones mentioned above.
- If so adjust the configuration until it suites your needs.
TwoFingerScroll
The second solution is a utility called TwoFingerScroll. This application works for all Synaptics-based trackpads. How do you know if your trackpad is manufactured by Synaptics? In that same Mouse window that you were in before, navigate to Hardware.
![Parallels Mouse Too Fasrt Parallels Mouse Too Fasrt](/uploads/1/2/3/7/123707568/273521761.png)
In the Manufacturer tab, it could say Synaptics. You can clearly see that mine doesn’t: it says Lenovo, and the name is UltraNav Pointing Device. Fortunately, after a quick Google search, I found out that UltraNav is just Lenovo’s brand for their Synaptics trackpads. So, now I know that I can use the Synaptics software. Similarly, if the name of your device is anything other than Synaptics, just give it a quick Google search. You may find out that Synaptics is the manufacturer behind your trackpad as well.
Download and extract TwoFingerScroll. When you run it, a little hand icon should pop-up in your system tray. (The area by the time in the bottom right corner of your screen.)
Right-click it and select Settings. Then select the Scrolling tab. Check Smart in the Scroll Mode box. You should have a noticeable difference in smoothness in your scrolling now. I know I certainly felt it. (Either that or the Placebo effect?)
Finally, here’s an extra treat for those of you who use Google Chrome.
SmoothScroll
SmoothScroll is a Chrome extension that makes scrolling much smoother in Google Chrome. It reminds me of my good ol’ beloved Mac.
Install and enjoy! Apparently, there’s a smoother scroll extension for Firefox as well.
Although it’s still not entirely perfect, your trackpad scrolling should be a lot more useful and a lot more controllable. If this still isn’t precise enough for you, you may want to consider purchasing a mouse. Shop smart!

This question has been asked many times with no answer. I've used my basic Google skills and haven't come across a fix. This is system wide. My mouse simply scrolls too fast.
I'm new to ubuntu and linux in general. Would switching styles or whatever it is called (Ubuntu, KDE, Xubuntu) help at all? Is there a terminal code I can enter?

I removed the USB dongle that comes with my wireless mouse and plugged it back and fixed my scrolling speed instantly.

To change the mouse parameters:
- list the peripherals, note the good number with the device name of the mouse!
- list parameters from peripheral number 9
- set the acceleration of peripheral 9 to value 3. The higher the value is, the more you divide the acceleration. Acceleration is maximum for a value equal to 1. The 'basis' value seems to be 1.7, for me..
To permanently set the change :
A hidden file in your directory is '.profile' (Ctrl+H to see hidden files)Double click on it and open it. Copy paste the previous command at the end. That's it!

P.S. to apply the same command for all users you can edit the file /etc/profile (not an hidden file).
Have fun.

I have a Logitech PerformanceMouse MX and none of the solutions here worked. The only thing that worked for me was using some parts of this project.
- Add this PPA and then install
xserver-xorg-input-evdev
. - Check out the Solaar project and run
rules.d/install.sh
. It will copy the udev rules to the appropriate location and ask permissions if necessary. - Remove the receiver and plug it back in.
- Add yourself to the
plugdev
group:$ sudo gpasswd -a <your-username plugdev
- Log out and log back in.
Now you can set your scroll-speed with the following
xinput
commands (source):Changing the
8
to a lower value increases the sensitivity. Flipping it to negative changes the direction of scroll. Increasing the value decreases sensitivity. Vivin PaliathVivin Paliath
First check which device is the mouse:
Now pick the ID of your mouse there, and list its current settings:
then change the settings like so where
Evdev scrolling distance [vertical] [horizontal] [dial]
where the combination of the last three numbers is mouse-dependent:
- first number, the direction of scrolling (minus reverse)
- second number, speed of scrolling somehow
- third number, speed of scrolling somehow
- Changing these values to bigger numbers means you scroll slower (AgentME).

I have written a simple script which allows you to find which device has this property ( The script basically iterates over all xinput devices and lists only those which have any property containing
scroll
).Note, that for example in Firefox you can set in
about:config
Remember to set

This solution works for me:
Create a bash script and insert this:
Now run the script and set your desired mouse wheel speed.

Aside from all of these You can use the old good synaptics dirver for this (Yeah I know it is not supported anymore but lets be honest
If you are on 18.04 or above just install synaptics:
libinput
documentation sucks hard). If you are on 18.04 or above just install synaptics:
now go to
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d
and just edit the file 70-synaptics.conf
find the section
Section 'InputClass' Identifier 'touchpad catchall'
then add these options:The default number is
26
the lower the number it is faster to scroll, the higher it is slower to scroll. Finally it should look like this:Save the file and close it (Ctrl + O then Enter then Ctrl + X).
Log out and back in for the changes to take effect.
Synaptics driver is a driver with huge options I dont know who in a world has decided to move to the NO OPTION libinput.
Other options can be found at:

7 years agoI use my mouse to turn my character but more often than not the camera will flip me around or my view will be from the ground looking up. It's like acceleration is turned up to max or the sensitivity is. I've installed the latest drivers and tried using a G500 and a razer naga both with the same results. I've disabled acceleration and precision point (or whatever the setting is called in win7).
This is driving me nuts. I've looked on the forums and it appears that a number of us are experiencing this issue. Just wondering if any redditors are too and if anyone has found a fix for it?
Thanks
EDIT: Thanks to tippocalypse, it looks like BW is aware of the issue and is asking players to post what mouse they are using in this thread: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=62987&page=4

I set the pointer speed in System Setting as low as possible and it is still way too fast. It is a logitech M185 and I am running Ubuntu 12.04. I have the same mouse with my Mac Mini and it isn't crazy fast like the one on my Ubuntu computer.

I just found the solution in this external page.
It seems that you have to modify the
Device Accel Constant Deceleration
. The original value is 1
, I tried a few settings and it seems that it works perfectly with 2.8
for me.I used the following command, where
10
is the device id, so you should change the 10
value with the corresponding for you:How to know your
Lucioid
device? With this command you will see the list of your device and the id

As unlikely as it sounds, try unplugging the USB dongle and plugging it back end.
Sometimes this happens when it has hibernated then come back.

Try this - http://www.hidpoint.com/hidpoint/overview/overview.html
It's a Linux version of Logitech's Setpoint software that can act as a configuration tool with various options, including sensitivity control.
